We are writing this feedback based on our recent experience at Travancore Kerala Restaurant in Kelambakkam.
Earlier, when the restaurant was operating on the ground floor, the food quality was excellent. In fact, the main reason we visited this restaurant multiple times was because of the authentic taste and quality of the food. It had become one of our preferred places, especially for Kerala cuisine.
Now, after expanding and shifting to the first floor with a bigger space, it feels like only the space has improved, while the food quality has gone down drastically.
During our recent visit, we tried mutton biryani, chicken biryani, and prown biryani, and unfortunately all of them were very disappointing. The biryani rice felt very ordinary, almost like regular Ponni rice, and lacked the taste, aroma, and standard that the restaurant was known for earlier. The mutton biryani was particularly disappointing, and the chicken biryani, which earlier used to have a unique flavour similar to Jeera rice style, has now become very poor in quality.
The pricing remains high, but the quality no longer justifies the cost. Earlier, the restaurant stood out because of its food quality and authenticity. Now it feels like the focus has shifted more toward expansion and business, while the original food standard has been compromised.
As Kerala food lovers living in Chennai, we always look for restaurants that serve authentic Kerala cuisine, and this restaurant used to be one of those places we trusted. That is why this change is especially disappointing.
We are sharing this feedback sincerely because many customers visit expecting the same quality the restaurant was once known for. While one or two dishes may still be acceptable, most of what we tasted during this visit was far below the earlier standard.
We genuinely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and brings back the original taste and quality that made this restaurant special.
